Import containers

Import containers are currently discharged directly from the vessel onto the quay, picked up by a reachstacker, loaded on own truck/trailers and transported directly into our own yard. Containers are then stored awaiting release/pickup by/from clients. The containers will only be released once all release documentation have been received and all charges have been settled. After unstuffing at the consignee facility, all containers are returned to our terminal and stored for the container owner. All empty evacuations are done by vessel.

Export containers

For full exports the terminal receives containers and stacks these on a vessel/voyage and discharge port basis. The shipping lines provide 24 hours prior to vessel berthing at the terminal (WACT) with an export load-list for all full containers. This list is reconciled with what is physically in the yard and any discrepancies are reported back to the shipping  lines/ agencies. The shipping lines/ agencies supply us with a sequence sheet for both import discharge and export loading, allowing us to feed the vessel in the correct sequence. This is usually obtained directly from the vessel's command(chief officer).

To summarise, the terminal supplies all yard and quayside operations including personnel and equipment, (reachstackers and trucks/trailers). A 3rd party supplies all vessel stevedoring including lashing gangs, labour and crane drivers.
